This is a bit related to the other topic I started (painting).
Ever since my father got me a PC when I was in sixth or seventh grade, I have been fiddling with graphics software. I have tried almost all the the ones that had trial versions available. Now, I have settled for GIMP and Inkscape. The offer good features for raster and vector graphics respectively.
Some time back, I did try my hand at 3D graphics. I used the open source tool Blender 3D and liked it pretty much. But it was time consuming to learn the concept itself (not the software), and I gave it up for the other hobbies of mine.
But I still keep doing 2D - that is digital paintings using GIMP and sometimes Inkscape.
How about you all?
