There was a day when 'I love reading' raised eyebrows and brought awe and respect. There came a day when the same words were considered as a vogue. And today the same words raises eyebrows again with amazement, Man! you get time to do that? Now talks apart, we can not deny the importance of this thing; a bunch of printed papers, either paper bound or hard bound. We all start with the picture book, grow along with the comics and other story books, hate the text books, and dig through the big fat books in the library till late night to complete the college assignments.
But apart from all this there are hundreds and thousands of books..they inspire us, have great inpact on our lives... some are passed on through genertions, some are borrowed from friends, some are just collectibles, cannot miss to own one.
So what kind of book you would associate with? The amazing wit and absolute power of 'The Godfather', Emotion filled 'Love Story', the classic Shakespere's, walking the dusty roads of Malgudi with R K Narayan, the touching tales of Tagore, thrillers of Sydney Sheldon, building nations, developing political fundamentals 'War and Peace' or 'Mein Kempf ', fighting the evil in a Galaxy far far away in 'Star Wars', or envisioning the fights among elf and human versus Orcs in with Tolkeins.
Which one are you? Which 'rasa' of literature do you associate yourself with?
I do not know which 'rasa'
But I find myself enthralled by all the fantasy fictions. And also sci-fi fictions. The StarWars novels, I have about 25-30 of them stacked up and I will be trying to complete my collection of having all the literature available on the StarWars timeline.
And yes, I did enjoy the Mario Puzo bestseller - Godfather - all the three times I read it. And it is quite a co-incidence that I am watching the GodFather movie marathon today on tv. It has the quality picturization that is quite rare in cases of movies made out of books.
